Thermalright has just released the first am5 socket correcter, and I was wondering if I installed it, would it work with my kraken z73? Thanks

Socket corrector? sounds like snake oil, lemmy check -Insert loading bar here-

Useless on am5, afaik no bending issues on am5 unlike lga 1700

Although a cheap direct die mount would be appreciated by ocers since ryzen 7000 ihs is a joke (too thick so heat transfer is garbage at higher power load, look at der8aur delid video)

~Back~

Yea that is neat, I forgot hearing about this mounting issue with current gen AMD's stock buckle, I don't see why it wouldn't work, this is meant to be a direct replacement to correct an issue, not a mod that could create new problems

Similar to Thermal grizzly Contact frame for Lga 1700(https://www.thermal-grizzly.com/en/products/523-cpu-contact-frame-for-12th-gen-intel-by-der8auer-en). Thermal grizzly have Direct die frame for AM5 that will help Better for This https://www.thermal-grizzly.com/en/products/583-ryzen-7000-direct-die-frame-en Thermal right will copy this and release one and that give similer performance for 10-15$ so wait if you want to save a buck.

I don’t completely yet, didn’t know if there was bending like the lga 1700, but also thought it might help for thermal paste, though I have heard noctua makes an am5 thermal paste correcter

Damnit i was thinking of the same thing but oh well there goes that idea, i guess i could do delidding for some money, after all its just put a cpu over a candle or gas stove to take the ihs off and get rid of all the indium solder

  1. As far as we know there is no need for this type of support frame on the AMD AM5 platform. AMD’s new CPU has an extremely thick IHS, but it comes with other drawbacks.
  2. Thermalright doesn’t offer any explanation about why Socket AM5 users will be attracted to its new AM5 Secure Frame
  3. Thermalright doesn’t offer up any purported benefits for using the new AM5 Secure Frame, which is an interesting new marketing ploy. Hopefully, we'll get to see some independent third party reviews or investigations regarding its qualities soon.

Wait for reviews The Drawback is You loose warranty for CPU and motherboard. Removing IHS will give you about 20C cooler temps for The same drawback You loose warrenty (You are taking a bigger risk if you are not careful true for the Contact frames or even mounting a good old cooler) so Better to wait and invest on that than This or get the thermal grizzly one that is made with Higher tolerances.

But if I kept the socket and screws to the original housing and screwed it on when needed to replace my motherboard, would I still not get a warranty? And I am aware of what he said, and they outweigh the benefit, but I am fairly sure I can correctly insert it

You could get the warranty 99% of the time if you are not going to say this to them. If you say I used contact frame they are not going to give you warranty. Same for XMP. If you keep don't say it they prob give the warranty to you.

But that’s kind of cheating isn’t it? And if you can just do that anyway, why does it void your warranty?

It is How it works, XMP voids the warranty on your cpu if you dont tell it there is not way they could prove it so they dont care same for the socket corrector.
