A desktop PC is going to be recommended, as you will get more for your money compared to on a gaming laptop. If you aren't constantly moving or need portability, a desktop PC is better for gaming.

There has been some large advances made in mobile form factors, particularly with CPUs and GPUs becoming more powerful and resembling desktop offerings. However, those will come at a price. Generally speaking, unless you get a good deal, you will be paying more on a laptop for comparable desktop specs.

This is why desktop PCs are recommended more often than laptops.

In my case, I went with a gaming laptop this time around because since 2018 I've moved nearly 10 times. I became tired of setting up my desktop PC and breaking it down continually. Therefore, it made more sense to go with a laptop. I also got a great deal from Micro Center, so it made sense for my use case.
