Motherboard: ASROCK B450M PRO4

BIOS Version: P3.30

GPU: Gigabyte 3060

CPU: Ryzen 5 1600

I recently bought an nvme drive (Crucial - P3 2TB Internal SSD PCIe Gen 3.0 NVMe) and it isn't working. When I put it in the ultra m.2 my computer just freezes on the boot logo. (All other drives unplugged)

I feel as if a bios update might fix this? But I have no idea which one to choose as my CPU is old and probably isn't supported in the new versions. I could use some help figuring out which version to pick

what other drives do you have? and what's your current boot drive ? or are you trying to make this one boot ?

I have an SSD and an HDD. Both are unplugged during this. All I'm trying to do is be able to get the drive set up. (It's unallocated) but I can't do that since it freezes at the boot screen

Try disabling secure boot and TPM then attaching the drive . Also it might be helpful to try the P3 in another environment ( pc / enclosure etc) . Is your other SSD and m.2 ?

I don't have another environment. Secure boot is off, and my motherboard doesn't have tpm.

My other SSD is a 2.5 inch drive. I'm only using 1 m.2 port. The other m.2 is sata. If I put it there, it does get past boot screen. But doesn't show up in bios

Try moving it to the bottom slot, also bios v 3.5 should work ok for your as it still retains Summit Ridge compatibility. But I'd try to SSD somewhere else or try it with another SSD. Maybe you can use a friend as a guineapig 🙂

LMAO I don't have friends. I'll update to 3.5 and then get back to you

Do I need to install this weird AMD all in 1 vga driver?? How do I do that? Through instant flash?

Nope. Updating to 3.5 didn't help. I was able to install windows on it with my laptop though. But it still won't work

That's not how bios updates work. Once a CPU is supported in a board it doesn't get un-supported... Update to the newest bios version available and let us know if it works.

If you look here at the CPU support list for your specific motherboard your Ryzen 5 1600 is compatible with all available bios versions for it.
