I currently have a ryzen 2600, im thinking of upgrading to a 5800X3D, i have an ASUS TUF B450M-PLUS GAMING, with BIOS version 0601, i was wondering how i do a bios update in the most safe way, and if this mobo is capable of handling the 5800x3d or if i absolutey need to get another mobo

The manufacturer website says, its compatible since BIOS version 3211. So yes, update the BIOS and go for it. Just be aware that the thermal compund sometimes lets the CPU stick to the heatsink, so be careful.

im more worried about VRM and stuff like that if it can hold up to it, and also, i've never done a bios update, do you have any tips or stuff i should do to be safe?

and does my 2600 lose support if i update the bios?

The VRM is absolutely fine. You can`t overclock the 5800X3D anyway and the new BIOS will also work with your old CPU. But even if it wouldn`t, update the BIOS with the old CPU, insert the new one and it will work.

Also, as long as you don`t disconnect the USB stick while updating or the power cuts off, it will work. BIOS updates got a lot easier over the last couple of decades. And even if you brick it, there are ways to flash a good BIOS to the ROM on the board anyway. Although you usually need some help for that.
