Hi all,

I'm looking to replace my old desktop which is around 10 years old.

I'm a bit new to making my own pc and was wondering if this could be optimized or if there is anything wrong with it.

I'm not looking to do 4K gaming, I just want a smooth experience 🙂

Nice build as far as I can tell, but I'm not really familiar with the differences of AMD.

I've been using computers since around 1978, started learning programming in 1980 on Apple IIs, started learning about hardware in 1990, ran a BBS from 1990-95, built my first Windows PC around 2000, taught myself malware removal starting in 2005 (also learned on Bleeping Computer), learned web dev starting in 2017, and I think I can fill a thimble with all that knowledge. 😉 I'm not an expert, which is why I keep investigating the answers that others give to try and improve my knowledge, so feel free to double-check the advice I give.

My phone's auto-correct is named Otto Rong.🤪😂

Looks good!  For the price that is not a bad computer indeed.    I would personally go with a 750w or 850w PSU, not because your system needs it right now but if you want to drop in a 5800X3D CPU later and a new more powerful GPU and breathe more life into your system without building a complete new system, you got some more headroom. And most good powersupplies like the RMx series have 10-12 year warranty so a PSU is something you can have for a long time.

Looks okay, any reason you aren't looking at current gen Intel/AMD ?

Ryzen 5800X3D(Because who doesn't like a phat stack of cache?) GPU - 7700Xt

                                                           X470 Strix f gaming, 32GB Corsair vengeance, WD Blue 500GB NVME-WD Blue2TB HDD, 700watts EVGA Br

~Extra L3 cache is exciting, every time you load up a new game or program you never know what your going to get, will it perform like a 5700x or are we beating the 14900k today? 😅~

I have thought about it, but I'm not planning to make any crazy changes over the next couple of years.

When I decide to build a new one, the parts may be cheaper too then. 🙂

Thanks for the tip! I'll change that in the build. Didn't think about that. 😉

No worries man!  The 5800X3D is still the best gaming CPU even today ( Until the new X3D's launch in late feb ) So even if you buy one in 2-3 years it will give you a very nice boost with a new GPU, basically a brand new system without buying all the parts.  Happy gaming! 🙂
