Hi All,

I built my PC almost a year ago and have used the stock Ryzen 5 5600X cooler from the start and was wondering if i should upgrade since I was noticing CPU temps hitting 92C in AAA Titles

Is the worrying or is it okay, as it mostly stays between 70C-85C when playing games and then around 45C-55C when browsing or downloading games.

I have a average to small budget and for reference a corsair S100 case for clearance so any options for upgrading would be much appreciated

Thanks for all the help in advance

I would recommend a better cooler. Ryzen 5600X doesn't need extreme cooling, a single tower cooler with a couple heatpipes and a 120mm fan is more than enough and way better that the BOX Wraith cooler that comes with the CPU.

Just make sure that the height of the cooler fits the case. Some cases can accept 150mm high coolers while many are 152 or 160.

So look for an air cooler rather than AIO

sorry Thermaltake S100 in Black, my mistake sorry

No problem. Ok cool, so according to Thermaltake’s website…

CLEARANCE: CPU cooler height limitation: 165mm

Which gives you plenty of options for a single tower cooler. AIO would be overkill for that CPU.

What doesn’t do it any favours is that case with a glass front, because it doesn’t allow maximum air intake from its largest side. Mesh fronts are what you want, so keep that in mind for your next case 🙂

I have the same CPU & I purchased a DeepCool Gammaxx 400 v2 for my initial cooler, which did a great job keeping it below 75-77°C during the warmer months (below 70°C during Winter). Although my case has that mesh front, so I wouldn’t expect exact results in yours, though they should be better than what you’re getting now).

The 400 v2 is an old Cooler now, so others could probably chime in with newer models.
