Honestly, there isn't really hitching or stuttering but I have noticed a drop in performance (mainly in Valorant). When Valorant first released, I got 300fps constant. Nowadays, I'm lucky to get over 280 fps. I'm not sure if it's my hardware or if Riot is just bloating their game with unoptimised code

I'd attribute that to normal use. You've probably just got more programs and stuff running in the background than before. This just happens as an install of an OS gets older.

That would be a valid explanation, if it wasn't for the fact that I reformat my OS install every 2-3 months. I used to attribute it to Riot's fault but nowadays, I'm not too sure

Bloatware, Background processes,  game updates, there are a lot of variables here that can cause this to happen.

seriously, at 280hz, there is no point in upgrading, you'd just be ditching perfectly good hardware and wasting your money.

I used to do it once a year but I started to do regular reformats due to an unrelated problem that I originally thought was due to a bad OS install/update. Was the reason I had to upgrade to an RTX 3070Ti from an RTX 2080

What fps are you getting (at what resolution and on which monitor (I assume the Acer Predator XB252Q 24.5" 1080p 240Hz))?

It will be smoother and the framerate will be a bit higher,

But i still recommend overclocking what you currently have.

For MWII, I'm getting around 180-ish fps on a medium sized map like Consulate on my Acer Predator XB252Q.

I personally wouldn’t bother overclocking either at 180hz.

 

I don’t think the gains would be transformative.

Unfortunate. To be fair, it's not that big of a deal. I was just curious if there was something I could do about it
