Budget: $3000 CAD

Location: Ottawa ON, Canada

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for:  Mainly gaming (a bit of everything, including VR, but specifically AAA games) and watching YouTube, Streams, and movies. Planning on doing some streaming when Hogwarts Legacy comes out.

VR gaming is done using a Oculus Quest 2 (Now Meta Quest 2) using the USB method.

Other details:

Due to the upcoming release of Hogwarts Legacy on February 10th (72hrs earlier in my case) , I need to upgrade or change my computer in order to play it at 1080p while at the same time streaming it.

To help you guys, I have included some pcpartpicker configurations at the bottom.

My first concern is that by choosing to change my current computer I would have to put more money when I will have to upgrade it in 3-5 years, than upgrading my computer and getting a new one in 2-4 years.

My second concern is that I would need to upgrade my PSU as well. I did plan an upgrade by choosing an 750w psu when building it as I wanted to get a 3000 series Gpu after their release, but we all know that went.

Next concern is the new GPU. I did not spend a lot of time choosing this GPU as I am not sure if the 4070 Ti is a good option. Would it be better to go with a 4080 or something else instead of the 4070 Ti?

I hope you guys can help me. Thanks in advance for your help.

Personally I'd just drop a new GPU and PSU into that PC - I wouldn't even bother with the CPU upgrade as the 3700X is still a perfectly good gaming CPU today unless you really want those high frame rates. But it's not like high refresh rate really matters in an RPG like Hogwarts Legacy, especially when you can only stream it at 60fps anyway. It's more the kind of game that would benefit from an upgrade in resolution to 1440p or 4K instead.

If you still want to change out your cooler (couldn't see what you currently have on your parts list) I'd also go for an air cooler over the AIO for long-term reliability. AIOs have a habit of failing after 2-3 years, while air coolers can easily last 5-10 years. If you're going to be upgrading regularly, investing in an NH-D15 could be a great idea, and the performance is on-par with (if not better than) similarly priced AIOs.

The 4070 Ti isn't exactly a great value as far as GPUs go, but nothing from the 4000 series (or AMD 7000 series) is really. If you're willing to go used then there are some great deals on 3080/3080Ti/3090 cards on ebay at the moment. But no matter what you choose, a PSU upgrade is probably a good idea alongside it yes.

CPU: i7 4790k, RAM: 16GB DDR3, GPU: GTX 1060 6GB

Thanks for the recommendation.

The cooler I have at the moment is the stock cooler that came with the cpu (AMD Wraith Prism).

I also forgot to mention VR games. I've modified the original post.

As for PSU,  how many watts should I go with?

Depends on exactly what GPU you get, but for a 3080 I'd say you need at minimum a quality 850W PSU, whereas for a 3090 or 3090Ti you're probably looking at a 1000W unit.

Upgrading your cooler with your current CPU is more or less up to you - how hot is it currently? If it's not uncomfortably high or throttling then sure save the money if you're not upgrading.

Can't say I know much about VR I'm afraid - never owned a headset and my PC wouldn't be able to handle it if I did!

Second this.  The dell 3080s are all over eBay in the US for like $500, and they're good GPUs despite being plain PCB with a plain black cooler

In canadia you can get em for under 700 canuck bucks, and that would be a monumental upgrade over your 2060 while still being perfectly usable with the 3700x, and well withing the capabilities of your power supply:

Dell/Alienware NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 GRAPHICS CARD 10GB | eBay

A reference 6800xt is also a great buy at that price if you want more VRAM (would also be fine with your PSU, you have a very good PSU):

AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT 16GB GDDR6 GPU Reference design w/Retail box. | eBay

No, nvidia recommends a 750w PSU for the 3080, and that's taking into considerration mediocre 750s so they can cover their asses.  A lot of people are running them flawlessly on high-end 650w units after mid-platform GPU upgrades, so an A-tier 750w like the straight power 11 750 is more than ok.

I edit the shit out of my posts.  Refresh before you respond.

I'm asking if the dimensions, and fan compatibility is for my first pc is correct, I'm also asking if this pc is good. I also know that the bios isn't up to date on the motherboard.

Reiterating this, this is my first build so expect a lot of mistakes, cost of it is around 2,400 US dollars. Is it worth it? I also just made this account for this since I saw this post.
