Hi, first time poster here.

I am in a bit of a conundrum here... I have an ASUS A520M-Plus motherboard and a Ryzen 5 5500 CPU. I need to do a bios update to allow that CPU to be used with the motherboard. Currently I get no display to allow me to do it through the BIOS and the motherboard doesn't have a BIOS Flashback button.

Is there any way that I can flash the new BIOS without using a 3rd gen Ryzen (don't have) which is compatible with the motherboard straight out the box?

Thanks in advance!

You MUST have a compatible CPU, plain and simple. You have 3 options:

  1. borrow one from a friend
  2. buy a cheap one from ebay
  3. Use the AMD loaner-CPU program

Do you have a GPU installed? Just covering everything, because a 5500 does NOT have an igpu, so it will not display anything from the motherboard video ports.

Yeah, thought as much. Just thought that I would ask in case there was a back door way of doing it 😂

There is a computing shop local to me so I'll pop along tomorrow to see if he can do it. Surely he will have a compatible CPU lying around from repair jobs.

Yeah, I have a GPU.

Thanks peeps
