Help with Cloning OS

I want to clone my old SSD onto a new m.2 SSD for my new PC Build which uses a new chipset. I've heard I shouldn't use the old Windows since it won't be optimiized for the new Chipset. I don't wanna reinstall since I wanna keep all my Applications and Files. So what am I supposed to do? Will the cloned OS recognize my other old Drives I'm gonna reuse?

Reinstall.  Just copy your files to another drive or external media, reinstall Windows and all proper firmware and drivers, reinstall applicaitons (which you can always just get anytime).

All those files you need are in various places on your drives.  Find them and relocate them.  

 

You can try to clone the OS or even the full boot drive with Macrium Reflect for example, but Windows settings are for a different motherboard, CPU and a host of other hardware.  It WILL have issues.  We only clone when we are adding a new drive to an existing non-changed system.

 

It may work with minimal issues, if the brands stay relatively the same.  Like Intel CPU to Intel CPU, but you'll have motherboard drivers that aren't needed anymore or expecting XYZ and they find ZYX.  Windows is good but not perfect.

 

But try it. It may work out well for you.  Just stating what I would do.
