Gaming PC

Right, that keyboard and mouse is more for functionality than performance.  It is better to focus your money on components that have an impact on in-game performance.  Keyboard and mouse can be upgraded at a later time very easily.

Use this build instead, I forgot that APUs run better with higher performance RAM:

See if your friend likes that build, also, you could ask him if he has a spare optical drive, PSU, or keyboard/mouse laying around or at a discount.  Hopefully his computer knowledge is up to date as APUs are a newer technology.  Check out some of those reviews I posted, they will give you actual, real-world performance marks for this particular APU.

I was thinking of getting prebuilt actually. My step grandfather has shown me a refurbished one off Ebay and I'm getting that.

What are the specs of it?  I would be extremely wary of a pre-built ebay computer.  So much risk.

I know. It's not me that's getting it, it's my step grandfather. It's got a 3 month warranty and he knows how to fix stuff. It's from a registered company. I'm surprised it's as cheap as it is. The other ones from there look terrible but this one looks okay. It's from a reputable business not some random guy. Hopefully it will work... I wanted to get something off Amazon but they cost more than £450...

Oh yes. The specs? I don't understand this stuff, so I will just copy and paste from the page onto here...

No.  Please don't get that, it is not nearly as good as the A10, it doesn't come with a monitor, it doesn't have fast RAM that you absolutely must have for an APU, and it is selling you a lot of nothing like case fans and SD memory card readers.  Please reconsider.

Okay. I won't get it, then. My step grandfather only suggested it because he has an ebay account.

Are there any online e-retailers that you use, or could you point me in the right direction on ebay so I could look for you?

It has to have free postage and delivery

It has to be from a reputable business and it has to have minimal wear and be new or refurbished.

None of those are going to come with an OS, and they are really badly built machines.

With the Richland CPU/APU, you have to have at a bare minimum, 2133Mhz RAM.  Those machines are poorly built.

I wanted to do that, but my step grandfather doesn't think it's a good idea. I have to use his credit card because I don't own my own one...

So. I don't know. I'll have to consult him tomorrow...

Small problem though... It turns out he doesn't have Windows 7 OS. I thought that he did, but as it turns out, it's XP Professional, not Windows 7 which means that if I were to build my own, I'd have to factor that into my costs as well... :/

Well this just got hardcore difficult...

If that's the cheapest, I'll see if I can fix my laptop first, thereby buying me more time to save up  and negating any problems involved with budgeting. If fixing my laptop involves swapping out parts then there would be no point if I'm getting a gaming PC because then I'd have to pay for the parts. If I have to pay to fix the laptop, then there's no point which means that I'd have to buy a gaming PC soon or pay to fix the laptop. However I have no idea whatsoever is wrong with the laptop in the first place and the amount of money I have is significantly less than what I was expecting which means that if I have to pay so much money, then I have to choose to fix my laptop or get an office PC instead. I was going to get a good gaming PC in the very far future but then my laptop started acting up so I had to choose between fixing that and getting an office PC so I figured I'd move the date of getting a gaming rig up, in order to do my work. But I didn't get as much money for my birthday as I was supposed to so that's skewed all of my plans up so I'm in a bit of a quandary. So I'll see if I can figure out what's up with the laptop first and then I'll see if I can wait longer to increase the upper boundary of my budget...

In 2 months I'll have enough money to upgrade. I need something to hold me over till I have more money... I need something cheap. It's not about the money it's about the time. I don't have much left before I'll need to replace my laptop anyway...  So I just need something for now that I will upgrade in a couple of months when I have more money... So yeah...
