Hi,

I saw a good deal on a used rx 6800xt, so I went for it because I wanted to upgrade my gpu anyways. The guy I bought it from said it was mined on without being overclocked. I noticed the performance in-game wasn't what I expected, so I ran some benchmarks:

https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/58283178

Here is my build on pcpartpicker:

https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Blobtoe/saved/#view=yqmfdC

So I'm wondering if the (relatively) low benchmark score is because of some sort of bottleneck caused by my ram or cpu, if my power supply isn't providing enough power (mine is 650w, while 750w is recommended), or if this is expected from a used mining gpu.

I'd appreciate any advice.

GPU mining doesn't necessarily cause permanent degradation of performance like that, but the thermal pads may have broken down and made a mess under the heatsink.  Normally, thermal pads last longer than the age of that card but running it 24/7 in a mining operation may have sped up the degradation (of the pads, not the GPU).    I'd inspect it if I were you.  If there is an oily mess under there, it's time for new pads, and to clean up the oily mess with alcohol, a toothbrush, and a toothpick).

If I were you, I would look into the specific thicknesses of each thermal pad on the card and look into replacing them with decent pads.  The arctic ones are cheap and they work well.  Don't go too cheap, there are a lot of shitty, shitty pads on amazon that will throttle your card, but good ones can make a world of difference for like $15-$20.  Cleaning and repasting the GPU die may also help a lot.

Your temperatures shouldn’t be limiting you as they’re well within thermal limits

Two things:

Userbenchmark is highly unreliable as a performance measurement tool at best.

Your Ryzen 1600 is going to be a massive limiter on the 6800xt.

Is there another way of comparing your hardware to other similar hardware?

Which cpu would complement my 6800xt well?
On a slightly unrelated note, is my 650w psu enough? I haven't seen my gpu go over 300w.

Two things to consider

1) Userbenchmark sucks for shopping but is still good for relative performance to the same GPU.  What specific cooler does your’s have?  If it’s a tiny lil cooler that might be part of it, so being in the bottom fifth would be expected.
2) Try runing the test in full screen on a 4k tv if you have access to one.  OC your 1600 to 4.1 GHz at 1.4125 volts and see if anything changes
