M.2 SSD problem

Go to solution Solved by Knomis,

The solution was not optimal, but I simply deleted the disk "1TB M.2 SSD", as to unallocate it and then I combined the unallocated partition with the 250GB SSD. Basically combining the E drive with the C drive.

The disk that is to be deleted needs to be empty as to not delete any files.

Heyo, I just got a new M.2 drive, and wanted to move all of my important stuff like windows and main games over to that drive. However, when I used the program AOMEI Backupper, which I found and thought would be helpful, it didn't simply paste the files into the new M.2 drive, it fully allocated space to those files in the new drive. (Shown in the picture)

I just want all of my files from my old drive over onto the new M.2 drive, but now I can't delete the allocated space on the M.2 drive and revert my mistakes, I don't know what to do. Help me

Thank you 🙂

I use windows 10 (probably 64 bit)

In the picture these are the drives:

- The M.2 drive is disk 2

- The old SSD is disk 1

As you can see, disk 1 got moved to disk 2.

Everything is in danish, sorry.

Clone the drive.  Use Macrium Reflect or the softare that comes with the drive. Samsung is Samsung Data Migration, Crucial is Acronis, I think.

Copying doesn't work, Cloning gets all teh background files so the PC can't even tell.

Macrium Reflect doesn't seem to allow me to clone onto the same drive again in the other partition, and there isn't enough space on my other drive.

I'm sure I'm clear on the exact issue. It cloned the drive as it's supposed to, but as your M.2 (Disk 2) is LARGER than the SSD, it used the unallocated remainder space and turned it into a partition which is normal.

Is the issue that you wanted to have your C:\ drive, wholly be that M.2 (Disk 2) without that extra E partition? Or is the issue you can't wipe that old SSD (Disk 1) to make it all unallocated and then create a partition?

Note, red = clone of green, should be exactly the same. Just, in the red your Disk 1/old SSD, you seem to have formatted away the C:\ drive it had at some point which is why it's now not allocated.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I've fixed it now thanks to many hours of helpless searching. Thank you for helping though! You have clarified some things which I did not know about, so thank you 🙂

Neat. If the issue is resolved, make sure to mark it as such. I would recommend adding in a separate comment with what your actual resolution was, and marking that as the resolving comment just so others can see and potentially be helped by it in the future!
