Personally, I prefer Western Digital. Been around a long time, and I've bought quite a few, never had problems.

 

But what's best suited depends on what you're doing. For primary storage, you may want an SSD, PCIe M.2 if your system supports it. For aux storage, a good hard drive will be fine. Look for one with some cache though, it will help with the speed.

I don't badmouth others' input, I'd appreciate others not badmouthing mine. *** More below ***
