Hi there,

I've been having some serious stuttering issues with my PC for a while now, but after upgrading to Windows 10 2H22 The problems have gotten notably worse.

I've attached a screenie of my sysinfo specs. Here also is a rather hastily made video of the issue.

And here's a more detailed list of my PC components:

Happy to provide any other details as necessary.

Historically, Antimalware Service Executable has given me a lot of issues, but I'm not really able to turn it off as I have been in the past: nothing I've tried allows me to edit its registry or foil it in general. Maybe it's because I'm running on a Windows 10 demo. But if it's not ASE that's the issue, I'm wondering if it could be the power supply, or some power-related issue?

Any advice and debugging tool recommendations are appreciated, I'm excited to learn more about PC care / debugging tools. I apologize in advance if I don't respond promptly: work has kinda sucked me dry this last month, but hopefully next week I'll have more time.

Thank you so much!
Jon

You can try DDU the graphics driver. Does it happen in other games as well? Any overclocks running, might be unstable? Your processor has more than enough cores to handle background tasks so that can be ruled out unless you do screen recording and such, in which case you will have to tinker with the settings. You can disable windows system sounds, usually those cause some spikes in certain games (Battlefield 4 and up comes to mind).

Thank you for the response,

I see now I should've provided more details before I posted this. My apologies for that.
I rarely do screen recordings, so I don't think that's the issue. And you're right, I wouldn't think a background process is to blame, given my processor.

I do believe I've tried disabling Windows sounds to no avail, but I can certainly try again. I don't think I've ever overclocked before, as I've never found I really needed to do it.
In general, this stuttering happens rather unpredictably, and it seems to affect both graphics and (perhaps more so) audio. For instance, when I'm running FL Studio, it doesn't seem to matter what size of project I'm running: it just stutters like crazy most of the time. Sometimes, the stuttering relents for FL Studio and games, but lately it's been near-constant.

Regarding FL Studio again: the stuttering is somewhat mitigated by increasing the buffer size (and consequently the overall latency) in my audio settings, but I don't recall needing to do that before, seemingly, the 2H22 Windows update. Since I can't revert to the last update now, I'm trying to forge ahead with solving the issue on the new update's terms.
