Weird Internet Connection Behavior

I recently swapped out my AMD Ryzen 7 3700X and Gigabyte B550I Pro AX mini ITX board out for an Intel i5-12600K and Asus Prime Z690M-D4 board. Ever since that swap, my internet has been acting very odd. Before, I was able to watch 4K Youtube videos easily without any buffering. Now, trying to view 1080p content is challenging and when YouTube is set to Auto, it often plays at the lowest available resolution. Interestingly, the Ookla speedtest.net says I'm getting 800-900 Mb/s down and 600-700 Mb/s up. Google's speed test shows the same download speed but an upload speed of less than 1 Mb/s. To cap off all the weirdness, playing multiplayer games online with friends and chatting to them on Discord works perfectly fine and no one complains about lag or anything.

 

Device Manager shows that the network adapter is an Intel Ethernet Connection (17) I219-V. My old Gigabyte board used a Realtek adapter. I have Gigabit ethernet speeds from Verizon FiOS connected via ethernet.

Did you reuse your old boot drive from the AMD machine? If so, just do a full reinstall; switching back and forth pretty much always doesn't work 100%.

 

Else, did you get the Intel driver package for the I219? You can normally get it from the Downloads section of the support webpage for your motherboard, or else find them from Intel.

I did download the latest driver package for the I219 from Intel. I am using my old boot drive. When you say full reinstall, you mean a full reinstall of Windows?

Did a full reinstall this morning and initially it didn't fix my issue trying to watch YouTube. I was still having problem with that and Gmail for some reason. Everything else like Steam downloads, Prime Video and 4K Floatplane worked very well with no issues.

 

I got off work and woke my computer from sleep and now YouTube works fine with no more buffering for the most part. Still is kinda weird how this problem exists with a singular streaming service.

 

But thank you for the help and I guess we can consider this one resolved!
