Hi guys and girls.

I just upgraded my rig from the following:

Asus maximus xi hero (wifi)

Core i9-9900k with 2*16 gb ram and rtx 3080.

1 nvme and 2 old school hdd's. An aio Liquid cooler 360mm with rgb fans.

3 case fans

Corsair rm850x (2018 model)

The new parts is :

gigabyte z790 aorus elite ax

core i5 -13600k with 2*32 gb ram same rtx3080

same hdd's /nvme

Be quiet dark rock pro 4

3 case fans

Same PSU

When booting the PC without the rtx connected, boots just fine.

When rtx is connected it won't post.

Could this be as simple as PSU not delivering enough juice?

what card?? even if you have a card that 850w couldn't handle, i would expect it to post at least, sounds like an issue elsewhere imo. what have you tried so far?

RTX 3080, unless you're looking for specific model. But that card can pull 350W and the CPU 125W, so that's already 475W right there. That's a lot, but that PSU should be able to handle it easily, though if it's more than one 12V rail and everything is on one then it could be too much, in which case things need to be split up. But I agree, it should be able to POST even then. Need to test the GPU in another computer if possible, or maybe in another slot.

Edit: actually, since it's the same GPU from the previous build, unlikely it's the issue, though possible it got damaged in the transfer. Might be the motherboard. Have you cleared CMOS and updated the BIOS?
