Im a new pc builder and I’m planning on getting a Ryzen 5 5600x, as a motherboard I was originally thinking about the ‘ROG Strix B550-F Gaming’ however I cannot find out if they are compatible. On the website it says it works with the 5000 series however a regular google search says otherwise. Can anyone help?

Welcome to the forums!!

Yes, the motherboard will work with the 5600X, but if stock has been laying around for a long time, may need a BIOS update in order to support it. The processors and boards have been out for awhile now so you should be fine. If not, this motherboard does support BIOS flashback so you can update without the CPU or memory installed in order to support the processor.

Hey there buddy,

don't let the people on the Google search results tell you otherwise, the B550-F will work with your choice of CPU.

If you visit ASUS' product page you will also see that they state that it is an AM4 motherboard.

Cheers!

If you go to the webpage for any motherboard, then go to support, you can see a complete list of CPUs that will work with the motherboard.

As @CommanderAlexsaid it will work and there is a small chance you'll need to update the BIOS. I'd be surprised if it was still needed, but if it is here's what you do.

https://www.asus.com/us/support/FAQ/1038568/

That motherboard page above will have the BIOS files and the motherboard manual will show which USB port to use.

I'm not actually trying to be as grumpy as it seems.

I will find your mentions of Ikea or Gnome and I will /s post.
