This is my first pc build and I'm following a tutorial. I did a per startup with the power supply and the pc got to bios where it recognized my 4 pieces of ram and gpu. After that I placed the motherboard into the case connected everything up, other than the gpu. (I for got to hook up the power to it) when I went to turn on the pc, everything turned on and maybe a second or so later the power supply released a large spark and everything turned off. The whole event was silent.

The parts I used were a

AMD ryazen 7 5700G with radeon graphics

Asus Prime B45OM-A II

4 sticks of ram from silicon Valley

Radeon rx 580 gpu (when sparked happen it was unplugged)

The case was a nzxt h510 flow atx mid tower

And the power supply is from my old computer. It is a Apecia 900v non Modular

power supply. The pc was given to me by a friend and although the pc had many issues it never had power issues. I wanted to save money and so kept decided to keep the power supply. So when my cpu arrived I began building my pc, eventually leading the the spark.

I have no clue what happened, if anyone could let me know what happened and if this could have damaged any other parts, I would appreciate it, thank you.

PSU is dead at worst, and should be replaced at minimum. A $68 900W PSU is going to be DANGEROUSLY bad.

agreed. apevia seems to have a bad reputation of killing other component.

heres a list of recommended PSU:

Are you sure the standoffs are in the correct spot? No extras? Sounds like the board shorted when put in the case.
