My PC has been in regular use for around 6 months without any changes being made to it, it was working fine up until the other week when I presses shut down and it stayed powered up with no display but the EZDEBUG CPU light was stuck one. I went out for around 2 hours and when i came back it was still on. Ever since then no matter what way I power off my PC, the CPU light comes on every single time i start it and i get no display output or signs of life except the fans ramping up and the lighting coming on. Sometimes it flickers between DRAM and CPU. usually i can get it to power on after turning it off and on a few times and clearing cmos multiple times and work completely fine until i next power it on. Ive tried everything i could find online including swapping ram psu storage and gpu, clearing cmos, bios flashing to later versions, breadboarding the pc, changing the memory speeds to a lower speed. However the issue continually persists. Im hoping i dont have to get a new motherboard or cpu as i dont have the money for that at the moment and my parts are not covered under warranty.

Specs:

Ryzen 5 2600

MSI B450 tomohawk max

16gb Patriot viper DDR4 running at 2933MHZ

500w cooler master psu

GTX 980 founders edition

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

500W PSU, very weak. But have you checked the CMOS battery Voltage ? Those are consumables to be replaced and no telling how long it's been sitting in the new board. Without it being at least 2.8V out of 3.2V, Bios hangs in weird ways, but still maintains date and time.

How would I check the voltage? Also ive tried swapping the battery with one from a known working board which made no change. Ive also tried the current battery in another board which also worked fine

Multimeter from any electronics store, they sell cheap ones too $12-$20 USD.

Lets eliminate the battery for now, not convinced without readings, but ok.

Do you have a better PSU to test with ? Cooler Master is a known brand but you need a 750W for that setup.

If it was a psu issue, then why would it turn on sometimes? And when it's powered on I can stress test the PC with 0 stability issues
