WD Velociraptors

The WD Velociraptors are spinning at 10000rpm, does that change a lot in perfomance with for example the WD caviar blacks with 7200rpm?

Performance is improved, but it still isn't as good as many current SSDs.

not really, its better and cheaper to get a normal hard drive and use a cache ssd

no not even close. if you want speeeeeeed buy ssd's and if you want space just buy a normal hdd

I thought that the "famous" (what their website says) 10000rpm is much better, apparentely not...

For a HDD 10krpm is super fast compared to a normal HDD. but a SSD is 3-5x faster in read/writes and 100000x faster when it comes to acces times, and that is what makes a system feel snappy. even the cheapest ssd has way better acces times, who cares is you can only write stuff with 150mb/s

buy SSD's i had 3WD Raptors in raid 0 and when i got 1 OCZ Vertex 2 60Gb the SSD wins so get a SSD and then some HDD for storage

Yeah, I figured out by now that the Velociraptors aren't that good as WD claims to say  :D

The Velociraptors are not worth the money, they maybe faster than normal HDD but a SSD is better.
