First build help?

@Pixelfie so I bought my NZXT H1 V2. Thinking I'll go 3060 since that seems to be the safe bet and I'm upgrading from a 1050ti anyways. Went with 500gb NVME SSD, because I can carry over my 2x256gb SSDs from my current computer for extra storage, and could always buy a bigger NVME drive later.

so I'm thinking these parts...

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/2cPk3y

Thoughts? Is there a reason I should go Intel i5 12400F and save some money on motherboard and processor, and also be able to upgrade to 13400F later?

What software do you use for video editing? AMD has apparently improved a lot for video editing in a lot of programs (but not every one), and their encoder has also improved a bit, so I think the 6700 XT will actually be better than the 3060 in most cases.

I still think 1TB is worth it over 500GB. It's only $25 more, and will save you an upgrade in the future.

12400F is better than the 5600 in every way. It's faster, supports newer upgrades, and the ITX boards for Intel are much cheaper currently, bringing down the total cost vs AMD. I recommend the 12400 non F instead though, because it has an iGPU which supports Quicksync, which can seriously improve render times for editing. The iGPU is also useful if you need to do some kind of troubleshooting.

Below is a list of what I'm thinking.

PCPartPicker Part List

CPU: Intel Core i5-12400 2.5 GHz 6-Core Processor  ($183.48 @ Amazon)

Budget (including currency): $1000

Country: USA

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Light gaming (Elder Scrolls Online, TES6 when it comes out, Halo MCC, Minecraft?), office work (I do my own taxes and budgetting spreadsheets), and maybe eventually mild streaming/video editing.

Other details: I'm looking to build my first PC. In the past I've mostly gamed on my Xbox One, and did some PC gaming on my laptop or a variety of desktops. My current PC is an HP Elite 8300 SFF with a GTX1050ti, i5 3470, 256gb sata SSD.

I've been eyeballing an NZXT H1, because I like the look and the compact size. My problem is, I am stuck between what CPU/GPU/MOBO I should get. All I've ever done in the past is upgrade an existing system, so any suggestions would be great. I'm trying to stay under $1000 for my build as thats bonus money I got from work. Thanks!

The problem with the NZXT H1 is that it's not in stock anywhere. If the video editing is very important to you, it might be worth changing the GPU to a 3060 Ti as that will be a lot faster for video editing. But for gaming the 6700 XT is faster, and it's cheaper too. Both are fine for streaming and office work.

Thanks for the input/help man!

Did you have any ideas on if I got my hands on an NZXT H1? Its on sale at a few vendors for $200 right now. Or maybe a smaller form factor case?

I'm not in a rush to build, so if I had to wait on the case thats fine.

Something like this? Didn't include case because I can't find it on PCPP. Might be worth waiting for 13400 though

Placed order for NZXT H1 V2 today.

I'm pondering buying a motherboard, cpu, ram, and storage (everything except gpu) and just rolling with my 1050ti (yes, PC will be like a guy skipping leg-day) until my February bonus.

Thoughts? NZXT H1 is limited to AM4 but I could go Raptor Lake.

I don't do any video editing currently. I've considered doing it though.

I may end up waiting a couple weeks. Might go back to Xbox for a few weeks and let my build sit for a bit.
