Arc GPU with 7700k?

Skellantra

I'm looking into getting an arc gpu to replace or complement the 1060 in my plex/stream/server machine, mainly for its encoding skillz.

Will an arc GPU work with the 7700k? I'm having trouble finding information regarding rebar and whatnot

ReBAR shouldn't affect the encoding, it only matters in games. Should be fine for just/mostly encoding work.

Thanks, everyone. My Mobo is an Asrock Z270 SuperCarrier. It's a beast but I don't think it has Resizable BAR

It doesnt. It doesnt matter much for encoding BUT arc is still unstablr and it shows this in every workflow so expect issues.

It'll work, but since your 7700K (probably) doesn't have a board with Resizable BAR support, gaming performance would suck.

If all you're planning on getting as something like an A380 and not using it for gaming, it should be fine.

The A380 also adds a second issue as it’s a card like the RX 6400 that suffers dramatically without pcie 4.0

My A380 on an 8/9th gen board with an i3 9100F struggled hard on pcie 3.0 without resizable bar

100% sure yes:

Both an A770 and A380 on the left shelf, tested both with an 11900K, 11400F, 9500T, 9100F, 7700T, 5775c, 8350k, g3258, q8200 and recently with an intel N100

Without resizable bar the 750 and 770 are having their performance drastically cut down, anywhere from 20-50% in my experience depending on title and API used.

The A380 needs resizable bar and pcie 4.0 to perform as well as it does, that card is very powerful relative to its wattage and price but only when on a platform well meant for it. Putting the A380 on any of my non pcie 4.0, non resizable bar boards results in a similar 20-50% performance loss but also extreme stutter and crashes.

tldr resizable bar is vital to these cards performing well
