Hello everybody,

I would like to make an upgrade to my current PC if it's possible. This was my first build long time ago with an 660ti. I would like to upgrade just the right parts in order to run CSGO at a minimum of 144frame rate. I think I will have to just do it and buy a new pack of cpu gpu motherboard... or what are your suggestions then. It's black friday so let's find a good deal.

I will list the current components:

CPU - FX 8320

Motherboard - ASRock 970 Pro3

RAM - 14GB

GPU - GTX760

Storage - ADATA SU630 240gbs -

Budget (including currency): I don't think it would be much even if i have to buy a new pack. I don't want to build a rocket ship. I just want run CSGO good.

Country: United Kingdom

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: CS:GO

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

How does your CSGO run currently? Is the CPU on 100% or the GPU or both?

My PC is running slow in general. I will try to reinstall the windows today and see if it improves but I don't thing so.
The last time ( about 8 months ago and I stopped using it and just starting using it a few days ago ) when I played on it it was on a fresh win install and it did not perform well....

Slow doesn't tell me anything, if you open a Task Manager, leave it running in a background, play CS:GO then alt tab to look at Task Manager graphs, how much is CPU and GPU used?

I've just joined a respawn server. When I have somebody in front me I have 80-90fps and when I'm alone I'm getting 110-120 fps and it freezes a lot.

In terms of usage. CPU goes up to 100% when I alt tab to look quick and I think GPU goes at 30%? I'm not sure because after the alt tab it goes down.

That's the current usage, how do the graphs look? Those show usages while playing because they are 1second - few seconds old data

Everything is on low. It's looks good.

Really? Was the task manager running while you were playing? Can I see the graphs?

The GTX 760 should run CS:GO very smoothly, here's a benchmark of GTX 760 with Ryzen 5 3600x: (CS:GO starts around 1 minute)

I researched about this topic for my own upgrade. An i3 or a Ryzen 5 would be a night and day upgrade from your horrible FX CPU.

The i3 12100F might be a good start, paired with something with excellent value like the MSI Pro B660M-A and standard 2x8GB 3600 MHz RAM modules. In the Ryzen faction you can go with the R5 5600, MSI B550M-Pro VHD, and similarly spec'd RAM modules. I am not sure which one is to get between these two, they are both excellent options.

Alright then

so i guess a new motherboard and a cpu

any suggestion?

There's a catch to that plan, you have DDR3 RAM, but latest hardware is DDR4 and 5, so you will have to get a new ram too...
