PC randomly switches off

Go to solution Solved by solado,

Sounds like it could be an overheating issue, what are your temperatures when Ark is open ? I know you did 3dMark but what about Ark it's self ?

Do you have any overclocks applied ?

Good Day all, so yesterday had the PC running ARK while I was busy around the house and come back to it having shutdown or at least I thought so, start everything up again and jam for maybe 10 to 20 min, machine just switches off.

What I tested

  • Stress test in 3dMark - Ran for roughly 5 min and then switched off (HWinfo recorded no anomalies)
  • Left PC on with nothing running except usual background apps - 15 minutes and then just switched off.
  • Event log shows nothing but the critical error from the system powering off unexpectedly disappearing.

*Will attach event log and HWinfo CSV when I get home tonight*

Specs:

  • Window 10/64bit
  • NR200p Max case (Coolermaster V850 SFX gold)
  • 9700k
  • Aorus Z390i Pro WiFi
  • Vengeance LP 32gb 3600mhz
  • 890evo 1tb ssd
  • 2 tb hdd seagate barracuda
  • Gigabyte Windforce Gaming OC 2080ti

*Will try reseating all connections and inspecting for any earthing issues.*

If anybody has any experiences or advice it would be highly appreciated, Thank you in advance.

Didn't check ARK, but had no issues with Temps on the synthetic bench, will check again tonight.

No overclocks applied to anything.

Thanks for the outside perspective, after some testing it was defiantly a heating issue. We had a heat wave and the PC had been on for several hours, I have not had the issue since.
