Hi,

I have a question in relation to wiping a SSD ready for a reinstall of windows.

In the past I'd used the likes of diskpart and recently I used parted magic.

But I'm always hitting the problem where the SSD (regardless to the brand) is "Frozen" and I'm able to do jack with it.

I've tried putting the PC to sleep and waking it back up. But my PC is not to happy about waking back up so this method is not an option.

Has anyone found a solid sure to work way that this issue can be over come? Or has any recommendations of software for the job?

Thanks in advance for your time.

Windows should wipe the SSD before it installs, right?

yes.. during the install it will give you the option to format it which deletes everything on it.. or you can just right click it in windows and hit format which will do it aswell.

I thought that windows did not condition an SSD correctly. I was thinking about keeping the SSD speeds at best.

Does windows do a proper job these days of conditioning an SSD to it's best condition and resetting the nand flash correctly?

It'll do just fine... the difference if any will be unnoticeable. You can't reset your SSD to factory default status after having a bunch of read and write cycles anyway.
