9700k OC help

5.2ghz 1.38vcore, 1.1v vccio 1.12v vccsa avx offset 0. Llc turbo on a z390 aorus ultra. Vrvout underload is 1.31-1.32v. Temps are fine, passes cinebench 30mins, occt extreme large avx2 passes. When I set it to small extreme avx2 it crashes and cores spike to 104c not good. Planning on changing thermal paste to see if that makes a difference. Although id like to get it stable in occt small, but is it necessary? If anyone can shed some light or tell me the next steps to get it stable that would be great thanks.

small extreme is a hell of a load to put on the cpu even not OC'd. sure my overclock isn't stable under that load, but if it works in all your applications that you use, then who cares? days of 24 hour prime95 stable are way past and quite frankly stupid. might not be exactly the answer you're looking for, but unless you need that application and that particular load, then it's kinda pointless going to that extreme

So you want it stable ons an extreme stress test?

How does it work normally? Stable in windows and gaming?

That's my definition of stable.  Stable under unreasonable loads isn't needed, it's useless.

How many watts are you pulling at 1.38v pushing small ffts?  If it’s over 300w, you’re going to struggle cooling it. Also, what are you using to cool it.

180w… under load it’s 1.31v bc of my llc. 240mm aio. Crashes in p95 smallest

Seems stable in gaming so I guess it’s fine… thought it crashed once in cinebench r20, never in r23. Scored 10100 in r23. I guess that’s good?

It seems that it peaked at 97c when it crashed on r20, I just maxed my pump and all my fans, cpu didnt get over 90c and it passed r20. Seems the higher the temp the more voltage it needs.

Yes it’s called power leakage.

are u pushing ur cpu just for fun and benchmarks ? Because realistically I won’t notice a difference between 5.2 and 5 ghz for gaming with the fps counter turned off

may as well run it cooler at lower voltage

like my cpu will do 5.6p and 4.4e but there’s just no need for it

You can use HW Monitor to see the actual wattage you’re pulling.

Mostly for fun lol… my 5ghz is stable for occt small avx2. Draws 210w like that and no errors. High llc, 1.32v in bios and 1.2v underload… can’t seem to get 5.2 stable in occt… I’m thinking with a better cooler I could push more voltage

U need more llc if ur dropping from 1.32 to 1.2 under load

Im on LLC high, I could go turbo and reduce vcore but I read somewhere that the medium settings are the best on the z390 aorus ultra. I think a buildzoid video? Am I wrong?

I don’t no I’m not an expert I just always set llc so it doesn’t drop under load then turned the vcore down

Maby someone else can tell us does llc push all voltages up or only vcore
