System not POSTing

Go to solution Solved by cpoir,

I have figures it out after talking to gigabyte support. The issue was i was flashing the bios with a 32GB USB however that is too large to use. I was able to successfully flash bios after using a 8GB USB stick. They recommended using 16GB at most to flash bios. The system was able to POST after bios update which according to support last 6-8 minutes.

System:

i5-13600k

Corsair Vengeance 16GB (2x) DDR5 RAM
Gigabyte Z690 Aorus Ultra motherboard

Asus GTX 1070 GPU

Thermaltake 850W PSU

Issue:

System will not POST with either 1 or both sticks of RAM installed. With both installed, in slots A2 and B2 as recommended, I get debug codes 59, D0 (or 00 not sure), C2, C4, 54 (repeating 11x) until C1 shows then system reboots. 59, 54, and D0 are CPU or memory errors, and C2, C4, and C1 are reserved. 00 is not listed so I assume it is D0.

If 1 stick of RAM is installed, in slot A2 as recommended, I only get debug code 12 and system will stay running until I shut it down. 12 is "reserved" in manual and can't find what it means elsewhere.

CPU, RAM, and SSD are all supported per gigabyte's website with only the CPU needing a BIOS update.

Troubleshooting attempts:

- Updated BIOS to F20, using Q-flash plus (file renamed 'gigabyte.bin' stored in root directory and USB formatted with FAT32)

- Checked every connected cable

- Checked if monitor works

- Tried every variations of 1 or both sticks of RAM in every combination of slots

- Checked and re-seated CPU

- Cleared CMOS

- Re-flashed BIOS after clearing CMOS

I have reached out to gigabyte, without a response. So any and all help will be very much appreciated.

edit: Could this be an issue with the motherboard or RAM?

You have a different CPU to test the system, have you checked the socket for debris, damage, bent pins, thermal paste.

Have you tried a different set of ram

have you replace the Cmos battery

have you tried without any GPU

Have you tried without any ram at all... to see what error message you get there (should be memory, if not you have a bigger issue)

If someone has helped you out on the forum don't forget to give them a reaction to say thank you!

I don't have another CPU that will work with motherboard, I check for debris, bent pins and thermal paste and everything looked good.

I don't have other RAM that will be supported, might go to bestbuy to get some to test if that is the issue

Motherboard is brand new, so I doubt battery is the issue but could get another if problem persists

Motherboard only has a display port, which I don't have a monitor that supports, so I can't see if it posts, but starting without GPU installed receives same debug codes.

Without any RAM installed just gets debug code 59

Hmm... without other parts to test with it will be hard to nail it down, some PC stores will test parts for you for free or very low cost, may be worth looking into that and taking your ram and cpu there, if they are good it will be a mobo/bios issue most likely

Another VERY RARE possibility is a that is on its last legs sending weird voltages, it's unlikely to be that though even with very old PSUs

I'll see if there is a store around me that could help testing parts

PSU is also new so unlikely it can't send voltages needed
