3070 or 3080?

I am planning on playing games like minecraft, tf2, etc. How large will the performance gap be compared to the difference in price, and which one would y'all say is better?

That depends on how much you want to spend on a gpu.

A 6600 will run the living hell out of those games, quite literally. No need to move that high up.

If you want a 3080 it will provide better performance then the 3070 but it cost roughly $300 AUD more.

Fair enough, I guess I'll move down to 3070 from my current plan and then I can even spec down my psu and save even more

Why not go for a 6800xt over a 3070? Should have better performance while costing a bit less

I wouldn't buy either, but if anyone wants ideas on 3070 vs 3080, all 3080's come with GDDR6X which gets A LOT more toastier than the regular GDDR6 found on the 3070. The 3070 is the final tier card to come with that RAM. It's slower, but doesn't peak to 105C with shit pads.

IF you dont need or care for ray tracing, go with AMD, namely RX 6800 XT and above. Better bang for buck, price to performance ratio is much better. 

If you care about RT, and plays in 1440p, get 3080. If 1080p, get 3070.

3080 in 1080p needs a very fast CPU to fully utilize.
