Some help choosing Fans =[

'Kay, here's the situation. Got a new giga z87 mb which has 4 pin fan connectors, my old fan's have 3. Upon a quick google search it would seem my fans not having that last slot would just set em to default max speed and i won't be able to control it (correct me if im wrong here). I'd much rather have control.

Now should i just upgrade my fans (going to be getting a phantom 820 + x60 kraken for cooling in future so i'd like them with that case in mind). if so, which? Fan noise isnt much of a problem as i generally faze out all unneeded sound's while playing dota2, bf4, youtube etc and i do intend to OC  my rig (3670k and future 770 or above / 800 series single card).

or

Should i just go for the quick fix and get a cable that take's my current old stock Antec fans (came with the antex 300 case) 3pin that connect's to a 4pin so i can keep fan speed control...if such a thing exists?

Regards

Preston

I'm sure the phantom comes with a built on fan controller, just use that and control them manually, however if you really want PWM control you are gonna have to replace the fans, a 3 pin to PWM adapter doesn't exist. But I think replacing them

Is a waste of money if you don't mind noise, use the phantoms fan controller.

Ty for replying, but i don't think you fully understand what i'm asking lol  :P

I'm not looking for a fan controller. I'm looking for a 3->4pin adapter so my fan speed wont sit @ 100% 24/7 (which is what ive read if you just connect a 3pin into a 4pin) If there isnt a 3->4 adapter option then new fan's are in order. So i'm also asking which fans toget for healthy air flow if it come's to getting new fans.

regards.

There's no such thing as a 3 pin to PWM adapter.

That's why I reccomend a fan controller so you don't have to have your current fans at 100% all the time and don't need to but new fans. But if you really want new fans, get anything from Noiseblocker or Noctua, just make sure they are PWM.
