Excel Help!

Go to solution Solved by GamersCouch,

The query is straight forward. I did a a little work around and filtered relevant data only and pasted as plain text. Used the new table in the query and it was fine... But, I still would like to know what the heck was going on. argh!

Running a simple xlookup formula and for some reason, it's bogging my system...

5950x

128gb RAM

Excel 64bit

Win11

1TB NVME

Restarted program, everything is up to date.

At first, I was referencing cells in a separate work book. Migrated the information i needed into the same WB. Same problems.

I had to configure excel to only use 16 threads instead of the 32 because it was erroring out stating there were no resources available. I'm at a loss.

What Excel version? Have you tried reinstalling Excel?

Errors by having 32 threads instead of 16 makes me think something is up with the software. A reasonably new Excel version should have no issues running 32 threads.

Do you have another machine that you could run the lookup on? Just to see if the issue persists between machines?

Does the formula actually complete?

Excel completes the formula slowly. like, 3 seconds for 1%.

I'm running Office 365. It's my company's license. Maybe it's excel. It kind of happens on the company laptop, but I thought my PC would obviously handle this no problem.

Is it your company license on your personal Ryzen system as well? If it is, it could be a weird org policy. I have no idea what it could be though.

Could it be that the lookup is is actually intense and looking through a very large amount of files or the query is poorly written and it's checking things it doesn't need to check?
