Looking for alternatives

Go to solution Solved by RONOTHAN##,

If you want a new board with on board WiFi, that's about as good as you can get for that price point. If you're fine without on board WiFi, the B550M Steel Legend is about the same price and a much better board, but a good WiFi adapter is ~$25, so it would be a bit more expensive, and if you're price conscious it's not like you'd notice a difference unless you plan on eventually running a 5950X.聽

I'd just get the B550M Pro-VDH you linked, it's not amazing or anything, but it's good enough for a 5600, and it's about as good as you can get for a board and WiFi capability (whether it be on board or add in card) for $120. If you were going up to about $150, then things might change, there are better boards out there, but they aren't necessary for a 5600 based system.聽

Hello! I鈥檓 looking for a alternative for This MSI mobo聽that comes with WiFi for $120 I need WiFi I don鈥檛 care if it鈥檚 a mobo/WiFi car combo or a WiFi mobo, I鈥檓 just wondering if the is the best option for the price for my 5 5600 and 4000D AF build planned. Thanks in advance! 馃檪

just get any mobo you can afford and get a wifi card or and an adapter. don't limit your choices for one feature

What about the B450 Aorus Pro Wifi? It will probably have a recent enough BIOS to support a 5600, but if you want to be sure I recommend contacting the retailer. They can probably update it for you if it doesn't have a recent enough BIOS out of the box.

Is it better than the MSI one? Does having 550 change anything about it? And not a 450?

The B450 has better VRM and better audio chip. The B550 has BIOS-flashback and supports PCIe 4.0. It's up to you what you care about more.

I am really a complete pc noob, but bios flashback is 聽where you don鈥檛 need cpu installed to update bios? And will the audio chip in the MSI one be better than one of a 5 year old office dell? Also what鈥檚 VRM? And what鈥檚 PCIe 4.0? Faster storage? Thanks.

Yes, that's exactly what BIOS flashback is.

Audio is probably compareable to that, but I don't really think you're going to notice the difference between any of them.

A VRM basically turns the power coming from the PSU into the right amount for the CPU. This is important if you plan on overclocking or adding a powerful CPU later on. You can read more about it here.

PCIe 4.0 has double the bandwidth over 3.0. If you have a GPU like a 6500 XT or 6400 (6600 and up and Nvidia cards are not affected) you really need PCIe 4.0 for decent performance. And like you said it will also support faster storage, though most PCIe 4.0 drives are expensive and I don't really recommend them with cheaper components like this.
