Hello,

The Issue:

I'm having an issue where my computer won't boot and "freezes" at the motherboard splash screen. Idk if it freezes or if it just won't accept any keyboard input.

When computer is fully turend off before I press the start button I can get into the bios but can't boot from bootdisk or from a installation usb I've made with Rufus (it's an installation medium I've used before, so I know it should work). Every time my computer restarts, either from bios or from using the the reset button, it won't get past the motherboard splash screen, and if I just leave it it continues to restart with the same result.

Things I've tried:

  • Disconnect everything non-essential, now there's only keyboard and mouse, 1 ram stick, cpu fan and pumb, GPU, CPU and 24pin connector and my boot drive connected. (After doing this was the first time I got past the MB splash screen)
  • Update the Bios. (No effect)
  • Reset CMOS by taking out the battery. (no effect)
  • Clear the CMOS via the motherboard pins. (No effect)

My specs:

  • Motherboard: Gigabyte x570 AORUS ELITE (firmware: f37a)
  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 3700x
  • RAM: Crucial Ballistix 2x8gb DDR4-3600 CL 16
  • GPU: Zapphire Nitro+ Radeon RX 580 8GB
  • PSU: Corsair RM1000x (2018)
  • AIO: MSI Coreliquid 360R
  • SSD: Kingston 240gb
  • M.2: 1TB

I've used most if this hardware together before, only thing that's new is PSU, AIO and a new Case (Corsair 4000D airflow). I've also resently moved, so

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure if you have, but it would be worth double checking that the CPU power and 24 pin cable are fully plugged into the motherboard as well as the PSU.

I found the issue, it was my m.2 drive (WD Black SN750 1TB) I have no idea why or how, since it's less then a year old, and I've only written to it when I installed my games.
