In order to play fifa 23 on my pc I have to enable secure boot in my bios. I have an old motherboard and after I enable the windows 8.1/10, change my secure boot mode to custom, enroll all factory default keys I get a warning saying I need to disable CSM in setup and reboot. After I reboot, my computer isn't posting and I have to reset the cmos.

My computer is already in UEFI. I am not sure how to disable CSM in setup or really understand what that means. I am not terribly familiar with boot processes. From what I understand my gpu is compatible with UEFI. Some are saying I have to convert my boot drive form MBR to GPT but my computer is already posting when booting in UEFI. Not sure what I am doing wrong.

update: my partition style is definitely GPT

this is the actual warning "Warning: CSM is loaded! Disable the CSM in setup. Repeat operation after reboot to ensure UEFI Video (GOP) driver is operational."

Hardware: Warning this computer is ancient. It is just a placeholder i scrounged together out of old parts.

Motherboard: z97s sli krait edition

GPU: GTX 9502gb

SSD: 1tb nvme

CPU: some ancient i5

another edit: potentially found a solution. Will update incase someone ever comes across this.   https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/753879/need-help-enabling-secure-boot-tpm-on-msi-z97-mpower-mb/

CSM is essentially how legacy BIOS booting is enabled on UEFI boards. How exactly it's turned off depends on your board, but typically you want to set it to boot in UEFI-only mode rather than legacy mode, which seems to be what that forum post is suggesting, so that solution should work.

Also in the name of posterity, anyone attempting to do this should be aware that if Windows is set up for legacy boot and you disable CSM/legacy boot, then for obvious reasons Windows won't boot. You can technically convert an install (I've done it), but it's fairly involved and I wouldn't attempt it if you don't know a fair amount about the UEFI boot process, the Windows boot process, and how to work with diskpart, bcdboot, and bcdedit.

Thank you for the response and info. Ended up finding an easier solution. I was able to just revert back into windows 10 instead of 11 and that fixed the issue with the game. Even with it set in UEFI mode, my computer wouldn't post after after turning CSM off. Potentially some sort of compatibility issue or I was not doing something right. Regardless, any solution where I don't have to tinker with the boot process is probably optimal, considering I know nothing about it.
