My full specs are

10th Gen I7

16GB RAM

Asrock B560m Steel Legend

EVGA RTX 3060 12gb VRAM

Ever since I got a new monitor thats

2560x1440

20hz-165hz

1ms response time

Game's have been lagging. Not all it looks like. Games like World of Warships never dips below 100fps on the highest settings, but games like Minecraft and Garry's Mod barely hit 60fps.

The previous monitors that I used are 1920x1080 with 5ms respose time have given me no issue at all.

I contacted the monitor brands support, and they said that the FPS is controlled by the GPU.

I've used the HDMI and DP cables and found zero difference. My drivers are all up to date, and no setting in the control panel changes it. A few games run better when I set the resolution lower, but this is absurd.

Does the 3060 support that resolution and refresh rate okay? Or do I need to upgrade some specs? Do the cables matter, like some cable that has a higher transfer rate?  The games like mincraft often hits about 30fps. Never had these issues with my lesser monitors. Is there some setting or driver I'm missing?

IDK about Garry's Mod, but is it the Minecraft RTX?

The games you play are fairly light, not demanding enough to make a 3060 struggle at 1440p. If RTX is on, then ofc the issue is with RTX being on.

If RTX isn't on, see the GPU/CPU usage while gaming using MSI Afterburner's OSD, follow this guide.

You'd want the average CPU and GPU's usage and temps, at least.

Please report back the result.

You're gonna lose frames going from 1080p to 1440p, that's just a fact of life. Your card didn't get any more powerful, but now it's pushing a lot more pixels to your monitor. If you want to know how much more, the math is in the resolution itself... Set your resolution to 1920x1080 and you'll almost certainly get the same FPS you got with your last monitor.

Now try 4k 🙂

How would I turn off RTX

Is that really not anyway to change that. Also is 4k any better, frame wise?

Edit: Would I have to upgrade my GPu to get better frames?

Try the game settings.

Realistically, his GPU will not struggle at 1440p for those games, check here for comparison.

No, 4k would be much, much worse.

Your GPU should be able to handle the games you mentioned in 1440p, but of course you will lose frames when you go from 1080 to 1440. The fact that you're getting 100+ frames in World of Warships tells me that your system is likely working fine, and that it's probably just a matter of adjusting settings in the other games.

Well I don't have any game that has a RTX option, but turning down the resolution on some helped. I guess I just need to upgrade some stuff. Just got this monitor, and don't want to have to get another one.

Yeah. As "stupid" as that, I assumed I wouldn't have any issues, given my specs.

It is not far fetched, I mean if AAA games  ultra settings on 1440p, the 3060 could get 50+fps, minecraft and garry's mod should be easily 60+ fps...

https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gpu-hierarchy,4388.html

You should try to play recent AAA games on 1440p and see if you could get 60+fps, if yes, then the games are the issue here.

Okay well thanks for your help. a 3060 is almost top of the line and can't even run 4k.

It's not even remotely top of the line. There are seven cards above it in the 3000-series lineup and only one below.

Corps aren't your friends. "Bottleneck calculators" are BS. Only suckers buy based on brand. It's your PC, do what makes you happy.  If your build meets your needs, you don't need anyone else to "rate" it for you. And talking about being part of a "master race" is cringe. Watch this space for further truths people need to hear.

Again, it's not the GPU's fault if your PC could run AAA games close to the benchmark results, it's the games issues. Garry's mod is a relatively very old game, performance will not be great due to poor optimization and limitations of the game's engine. Same goes for minecraft.

And as others have said, the 3060 is only a step above current gen entry card, which makes it still entry level, not exactly top of the line.

Never would of guessed. Guess all I need to do is turn down resolution.
