Msi pro z690

Will this board be ok for a 12600k mild 5ghz oc 

 

I assume it would be as a stock 12900k can pull 200+ watts so it would have to be suitable for running that 

 

or would the Asus tuff z690 be better ?

Yeah, that board is plenty for a heavily overclocked 12600k.

 

The TUF board is about the same, it's personal preference which you should go for.

The Msi is about 80 pound cheeper as it’s in a bundle I can get both for 460 pounds and reuse my 3200mhz ddr4 ram

Indeed no problem. Most Z690 VRM's are incredibly well specced, as well as the Msi Pro.

That sounds about right. I've used the MSI Z690-A Pro in a couple different builds, it's a pretty great board for the price.

Awesome so a 12600k or 12700k should be ok then

240mm AIO will be plenty for a 12600K, it will be enough for a 12700K but probably not for any overclocks that are worth doing.

What would u recommend for gaming at 1440p and Netflix

A 12400 is plenty for that, though if you want to overclock a 12600K is still a fine chip.

I’m probly upgrading gpu next year to to a 4080 so Maby the 600k will be a bit more umphh

I mean, if you're willing to wait a little bit the 13600K will be out and be a much faster gaming CPU. Realistically though the 4080 will only make sense if you're playing at 4K, so either way you're probably fine with the 12600K.

had to downclock my cpu today as it’s on its way out 

 

4080 should be a good bit faster than my 2080ti at 1440p ?

Yeah it will be faster, but at the same time it would be entirely overkill. 3080s barely make sense at 1440P already, let alone the roughly 50-100% faster 4080 (rumors are all over the place with that card)

With 240Hz then yeah, a 3080 is sensible. A 4080 will still likely a bit overkill though, but we won't know until independent reviews come out.

Hoping to build something that’s gona last 5 years so I don’t mind it being a bit overkill for now
