SSD Price Expectations

andarhan

SSD's are used to get cheap fast but since the chia coin sperg, especially the SATA SSD prices doesn't drop. I wanted to get a 4TB SSD but the prices are still high, even on the 2TBs. What do you guys expect for SSD prices on short-mid term?

I mean, you can get sales on 2TB Drives in the ~125-150$ range, which is pretty awesome.

What are you looking for for pricing, exactly?

870 EVO 2TB is at 180€ atm and any 4TB nvme gen3 SSD are way too expensive.

Mobo m.2 slots are full so 2TB m.2 SSD doesn't add much.

If you're always after samsung, you're gonna pay a premium for it.

Look for sales, and you can easily get those 2TB drives for well under 150.

I need Samsung so my PC will look pretty with other 3 Samsung SSDs, worth the premium. I was just expecting, in general SATA SSD prices would be lower now. Like, 2TB 970 Evo Plus was almost 2x 2TB 870 Evo 2 years ago, now 2TB 870 Evo is almost more expensive.

Are you talking about a price floor?  If the 870 was $180 2 years ago, and is now $180... and the 970 was $360 2 years ago and is now $180... you've just noticed the floor.

$180 is rough floor for 2TB, MSRP.  It'll sale a bit lower sure.  But don't expect items to just keep dropping in price until they hit $0.  Not how it works for any product, they all have floors.

Forgive me if I misread what you wrote.

You read me quite right, what I am surprised is why is the floor for SATA is higher than m.2 at this point. Same with the HDD floor too, their value isn't going down for a long while as well.
