Hello Everyone,

In the market for a GPU for a new build and I am having a VERY hard time deciding what GPU to get. I will be gaming at 1080p 60hz. Main games are Red Dead 2, CS:GO, GTA V, and Doom Eternal. I'd like to have no compromises when gaming, max settings, all that fun stuff that every one wants. I'd like to have ray tracing but not a deal breaker.

In my reading I get different opinions from different places. Some say 3060ti, some its 3070, other its the 6800XT.

What is everyone thoughts on the direction I should go?

It really depends on your budget. if you have like 300 bucks for a gpu it's either a RTX 3060 or RX 6600 XT. Both are fine but if you want more for less the Radeon RX 6600 is cheaper and offer 90-95% of the performance of the RX 6600 XT.

Budget is about $1000CDN, so about $750USD?

GPU. i am trying to keep the whole whole build at around $2000CDN (~$1500USD). I figure I can build the rest for the other half of the budget.

well if you want to go for AMD the RX 6700 XT will be your best option for performance/$ and for NVidia I will suggest the RTX 3070. The RTX card is a bit more powerful but it's a minor difference of around 1-5%. both of these will do great even at 1440p max settings but if you want raytracing go with the 3070. Also don't overspec the GPU beyond an RTX 3070 ti if you want even more performance cause if you don't spec your cpu, power supply and ram you will run into bottlenecks which can slowdown the entire system.

I have a 1000W PSU that is still good, and was looking at the 12600K for the CPU.

well then you can go for either of them but you can also go for an RX 6800 XT or an RTX 3080. Both of them are a bit of an overkill for 1080p as they are made for 4K max settings. So I would say pick between  the RTX 3070 and the RX 6700 XT, but if you want more go for the RX 6800 XT as it's a bit cheaper than the RTX 3080.

You'll waste anything better than a 3050 with 1080p only 60Hz...

You could rather get a 6600xt and a good 144hz monitor with your budget

AMD R9  7950X3D CPU/ Asus ROG STRIX X670E-E board/ 2x32GB G-Skill Trident Z Neo 6000CL30 RAM ASUS TUF Gaming AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX OC Edition GPU/ Phanteks P600S case /  Arctic Liquid Freezer III 360 ARGB cooler/  2TB WD SN850 NVme + 2TB Crucial T500  NVme  + 4TB Toshiba X300 HDD / Corsair RM850x PSU/ Alienware AW3420DW 34" 120Hz 3440x1440p monitor / ASUS ROG AZOTH keyboard/ Logitech G PRO X Superlight mouse / Audeze Maxwell headphones

depends on resolution, detail you want, and, most of all, if you want rtx on.

Considering all max settings, on AAA games

                       60hz - 120hz+

1080p rtx off   3060    3060ti
1080p rtx on  3060ti    3070
1440p rtx off  3060ti    3070
1440p rtx on   3070     3080
4k/VR rtx off   3080     3080ti/3090
4k/VR rtx on   3090     3090ti

Exept the 3080 and the 3080ti, i have all the cards and i have tried them when they were new^^

if you can't afford at least a 3060ti, imho, then a ps5 or xbox is better.
Plus all the cards i bought payd off for themself, even the 3090ti is nearly alredy broken even thanks to older cards helping it...
All this stories about money printing machines being too expensive are really no sense.
