Emerging Technologies Evaluation Processes

I'm doing an Emerging Technologies Class and it's giving a very high level conceptual view of the MITRE Step toolkit process and the Gartner Street Process. I'm getting the ideas on a conceptual level just fine, but I'm wanting to tie it to a real world example. I plan on searching some examples when I'm off work, but in the meantime, I know there's a lot of IT career workers here on the forum. I was wondering if anyone here has worked on one of these processes and could give me any examples to look at. If not, that's fine, but I figured someone on here might have some experience with this and I work better tying a concept to real examples. Any help is greatly appreciated!
