I think an i7 7700 is the practical end of the road for your machine.

 

It's possible to get 8th and 9th gen working on 6th/7th gen sockets, but it involves jumping though a lot of hoops.

 

What graphics card do you have?

I see, but how exactly do you know that the i7 7700 would be compatible at all?

That is the question I wanted to ask.
I have a 1650 GTX.
