Wacky USB3

I bought a USB3 usb hub and I'm pretty sure my laptop has USB3. The problem arises when I connect my USB 3 Ext SSD to the hub, the speeds just cap at 35, but when I connect the Ext SSD to my laptop the speeds are great. I'm really confused as to why this is happening and I have no idea how to solve this :')

USB hubs are notorious for not following the USB specifications.

Connect high speed devices directly and avoid the hub, or find a hub that doesn't suck.
