ASUS FX505DT SSD Upgrade

Brandi93

So my fiancee has an ASUS FX505DT laptop with 256GB M.2 NVME SSD installed. She plays lots of games, and unlike me she doesn't like to play the same game for long.

On hand, as I'm pc entushiast, I have a couple of options.

One is a standard 2,5" SSD 128GB which I know can be added as an extra storage to the laptop, via the caddy.

The other is a 500GB WD Blue 3D NAND SATA SSD M.2 2280, which I'm not sure it's good to replace the installed 256GB one.

I know there are mainly SATA & NVME SSDs of this form (it looks like a stick of chewing gum). The one I have is SATA one.

Tried googling but I can't find specific info. Also how do I migrate the current files to the 500GB one (if it's even compatible)?

Budget Gamer at heart.
