Freezing with increasing frequency problem..

Go to solution Solved by zeibis,

Tried it - all good in safe mode

========

Just underclocked the GPU and the issue is gone... What does that mean?

It may be entirely coincidental since i also restarted the computer - i'll wait and see

Well, if the problem is gone in safe mode it should be a software issue.

Few years ago I had a similar problem with utorrent, after some time my PC started to freeze for few sec. You can try in msconfig to disable programs/services and see what happens.

I've been having this intermittent problem taht's started recently and has gotten worse very quickly to the point where my computer is almost a pain to use:

Every few seconds (maybe 20 or so), the computer mouse will completely freeze for 3-4 seconds.. then everything goes back to normal. If a youtube video is playing in the background, the sound from it usually keeps going. On occasion it stops too.

I havent' installed anything other that a java update recently, so i'm really at a loss of what it could be.

On task manager, i can see CPU usage spike to 100%

Any suggestions on what it could be and what tests i should run?

Thanks!

*edit: My computer specs are in the sig

If anything is overclocked, try putting it back to the factory default.

Edit: Just saw your edit:

Try removing the overclock from the CPU.

Also try giving the computer an anti virus sweep, just to make sure.

It's all regular now but still have the problems...weird.

edit: ran virus and malwarebytes full scan with no results too

Hmm, try looking at what processes your PC is running. One of them have to be the one that makes the CPU usage spike.

You could also try a Windows scan in the CMD. Just run the CMD as admin and type ´SFC /scannow´ (Without the quotes). I don't know if this will help, but it might.

Bam! Uninstalled uTorrent and downloaded the most recent stable release and the issue is gone.

Thanks
