First Build Ever

Go to solution Solved by Erik4boss,

Way I understand it, Intel works with nvidia, AMD sticks to Radeon. I would go for an intel CPU, but I'll have Radeon graphics. So I guess I'll have Radeon. Thanks for your help!

Nah, intel works with radeon and nvidia. AMD works with radeon and nvidia.

It works great using an i3 with a R9 2xx.

I'd go with the intel if it fits your budget.

This would be a great build for your budget, and sadly it is without an OS. There are however places on reddit(?) you can get the OS for not many dollars.

Thanks a lot! I might strip my laptop for parts and use the HDD with windows 7. I can always just stare at the BIOS until I earn some more money :P

Can I choose a different case? I understand as long as it is micro atx it'll fit, right?

You can go with the Fractal Design core 1000 but i choose that one because it has the cable management holes. Also you could use steam os or ubuntu, both free and support quite a lot of games. And wait till you can afford a copy of windows (which i advise). Or you could pirate windows which i am not going to lie, i have done but it is a pain in the arse and i still reccommend you buying a legit copy of windows.

The build that i did has all the features you will need for a good gaming pc and you can even overclock the cpu and have even more performance but i do advise getting a cpu cooler if you are going to do that.

Main PC:

ASUS F1A55-M LX, AMD A6-3500, (2x2)gb Kingston HyperX Blu DDR3 1600mhz, Seagate Barracuda 500gb 7200rpm,
Corsair CX430M, Cooler Master Elite 343, Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit

Netbook:

Lenovo Ideapad S10-2, Intel Atom N280, (1x1)gb DDR2 667mhz, WD Scorpio Blue 250gb 5400rpm, Zorin OS 9 Lite

I'm not going to overclock just yet, seeing as I basically have no idea how to do it.

Unbiased, out of all the builds posted on this thread, which is the best value for money?

I would say the core i3 + R7 260x, You do loose the 2 extra cores of the 760k and the ability of overclocking and adding a 2nd video card but because you would not do that for not that much more money you can get the core i3 build.

If you decide to go with this build, you will get less FPS, but better all day usage. I suggest mine if you think FPS/higher settings is important. Mine is actually £20 cheaper so if you can afford the build above you could spend just a few more and 4 GB rams more on my build.
