I currently have a i5-11400F and I'm trying to figure out what CPU should I pick. So far the only CPU's I saw was an AMD Ryzen 5 5500 6-Core and a i7-11700K, but I'm confused on what I should pick.

Why do you need to upgrade? The 11400F performs within margin of error of the Ryzen 5 5500 and 11700K, only the 11700K has slightly higher multithreaded performance. In gaming, there's going to be very little difference.

Maybe a little more reason why you want to upgrade?

i5-11400F is still a decent CPU, besides a Ryzen 5 5500 is on EOL platform, why would you buy a whole new motherboard of a platform that compatibility ended on the soon to be last generation products?

If you really would like to upgrade from an i5-11400F, I'd suggest to wait out till the next gen CPUs released, especially for AMD, based on their last socket, the new socket would last a lot longer than Intel's.

If you can't wait that long, then maybe go for 12th gen i5 or i7, the 12600K is very good for high-mid range, that way, when the 13th gen released, you could just buy the new 13th gen and no need to buy a new board.

Occassionaly visits the forum when I have nothing to do at work.
