What DNS server? Your ISP?

Does it work if you pop in 8.8.8.8 (google public DNS server)

Have you set his machine to static IP settings? Is it getting a DHCP address?

Are you both on LAN, in the same network? Is one on LAN and the other Wi-Fi?

OK. I have tried several different methods to try to get the internet to work on my network for my brother. his computer is having trouble connecting to the dns and mine isn't and its on the same network.

i have tried the DNS flush, register, release and renew method and that works for a few minutes but then it goes right back to no internet. I have tried new network cables, disabling the Ethernet port and re enabling it.

and a soft windows restore and that hasn't fixed my problem yet.

First and foremost on each computer

open a command prompt by going to Start, Run, typing CMD, hit enter

in the command prompt window type

ipconfig /all

screenshot both, share them, or if you want to pm it to me thats fine (not sure if you can do that here).

This will tell you if both computers have IP addresses, Subnet, DNS Server, WINS Server, Gateway - You can crop out your host name.

They will look like this (but specific to your home network).

(stolen from a google search)

ipconfig.thumb.webp.da17d3f7c692f86c8d0abaa1e1484611.webp
