Budget (including currency): 950 but if worth enough 1000

Country: United States

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: CAD, programing, eSports, the more demanding games I wish to play are GTFO and gta 5.

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I'm buying everything new and I need a monitor. So just if you have any recommendations let me know and this will only be for 1080p.

Here's what I have so far. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/ZXmWzf

Using your budget this is what I was able to put together. It has an i5 now instead of an i3 which should help a ton with both gaming and productivity. There's 16gb of ram which also should help with both those things and I also added a case with better airflow because the one you included had bad airflow. I changed your SSD to 256gb where you would install windows and maybe 1 important game and put in a 2tb hard drive because games are big nowadays and 500gb does not cut it. Finally I changed the PSU to one which is 50w less but it is fully modular which makes building much easier and it is a more reliable PSU overall.

I definitely like that more but is it worth it to spend 70 more for 2 core's? Not saying it's wrong just a question. Edit: is there downsides of going older with more core's or newer with less?

The difference between 4 and six cores is huge in productivity and gaming and will last considerably longer. Most eSports games are also CPU-Bound at 1080p meaning the CPU is what is needed more then the GPU and having the i5 will help with that.

About what id reccommend

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/4cXdd9

Usually for most applications, the 12400f is a solid baseline with 6 pretty fast cores and would last considerably longer than the 12100f for only ~70 dollars more

I'd get a better board like the b660 steel legend that's cheaper

Cheapest kit of 16gb ram.

Cheap 1tb storage

The 6600 dual mech card has some weird limiters on it so it dosent run at what it's capable of, so I'd get a slightly different card for only 20 bucks more

Same case since I'll assume you have size limitations

Better psu since the br is just okay
