So I am starting my first build, is have purchased a refurbished Asus tuf b550 plus MOBO and will be installed a 5600x on it. So I know I needed to do a bios flash since the board wasn’t 5000 series ready.

power cables connected to board ( 24 pin, cpu power) with cpu not installed. Power on the psu and the boards rgb lights up, so far so good.

reformatted a thumb drive for fat32 and added the latest bios recommended for the board off asus’s website, went through the renamer to change the bios file to the correct name.

When I go to do the bios flash I get the initial 3 green flashes, the drive reads, then after 5-6 flashes the light goes solid indicating the update didn’t take.

as the board is not new, I do not know what the current bios version is. Is there something I’m doing wrong or something that I should try to get the bios to take?

I have tried 2 different thumb drives and they are older both with the similar results ( initial 3 flashes, one drive goes solid green after the 3, the other flashes another 5 then goes solid) So perhaps a brand new one?

any help would be greatly appreciated!
