I was helping one of my friends build his first pc. We got everything put together that we could but ran into a few problems.
1. There is no cable for usb in the case. When I built my pc, there was a cable that connected the usb ports on the pc into the motherboard. We searched everywhere and we can't find any cables for usb.

2. When we turn on the pc and hook it up to the monitor it displays a black screen. My first thought is this is because we haven't been able to finish the setup because we need a keyboard (connected via usb which doesn't work) to finish the set up.

I am not sure if this is part of the same problem but the pc also does not turn off when we push the power button. We need to hold it down 5+ seconds and unplug the power supply.

If anyone could help me out here, we both would appreciate it very much. I understand that you may need a parts list to help out so if you need it, let me know and I can get it from my friend.

Thanks :)

1. What's the case? The cables should be connected directly to the front panel, but they might be tied up in some hidden spot for shipping, they don't come separate in a box or something. Make sure you didn't mix up any cables and put them in the wrong spot.

2. The mainboard should also have USB-ports on the back, you don't need to use the front USB to connect a keyboard. But a keyboard shouldn't be required to get an image on screen, which brings me back to 1., possibly something is plugged in wrong? Does the mainboard have any LEDs or displays for error codes?

1. The case is the Corsair 4000D Airflow. I can check for hidden cables next time I see him

2. We did try plugging the keyboard in the back too, but we could not get any of them to work. When we turned on the pc it did display the Motherboard brand. After that, it just turns black.

If it displays the mainboard logo, then at least it's starting up, sounds like it is switching to a different output when the screen goes black, do you have multiple monitors plugged in? Can you try plugging the monitor into a different port or using a different cable?
