Gonna buy one tomorrow and check

It really does sound like cable, or some sort of bad connection with the DP port, which could be a cracked or 'cold' solder joint.

I have a RX 590 and it started having problems today. When i plugged in my displayport cable my monitor started to have random lines show up on screen and sometimes turn off and on again. When i set it from 144hz to 60hz it works fine. When i uninstalled the amd drivers it also worked just fine but when i redownloaded them the problem reoccurred

Check to be sure you don't have vertical synchronization or g-sync or some other stabilization enabled. This caps FPS at 60 or so to eliminate artifacts and tearing. Otherwise, you may have the incorrect driver for your card. I have seen issues where someone had an OC card and wasn't aware of it, or vice versa, and the drivers for the standard model caused problems.

I don't badmouth others' input, I'd appreciate others not badmouthing mine. *** More below ***

1. This happens whether im in game or not (but happens more in-game). This also happens with freesync on and off

2. These drivers has worked for the 2.5 years i have had my gpu and only started causing problems today. I do not have an overclocked gpu

Two and a half years... What are your temps like? Could be acting up due to overheating, or have heat related damage. You can change the thermal pads and paste as a cheap means of determining this. It may ultimately need repair, but this is a good early check if nothing else is obvious.

Have you tried a different DP cable? Sometimes it really can be that simple.
